In the pious land of “Kathgarh Mahadev” Govt. College Indora is situated at Village Indora which is 18 k.m. from Pathankot (Punjab) and 10 k.m. from Mirthal NH-1A. The college was established by the Govt. of H.P. in the year 1995 and started functioning by sharing the building of G.S.S.S. Indora. The college got its own newly constructed well furnished and well-equipped three storey building in the year 2008.
The College is a co-educational institution affiliated to H.P. University Shimla. College offers bachelor degree in major subjects in Languages, Humanities, Commerce, Science, Business Administration and Computer applications . Since the college is situated in the border area of Punjab, so it not only caters to the need of higher Education to the students of Himachal Pradesh but also attracts a large number of students from Punjab.
The physical resources of college has 6 lecture theaters, 15 class rooms, 2 Physics Laboratories, 2 Chemistry laboratories, a Botany Laboratory, a Zoology Laboratory, a Hi-tech Computer Laboratory, a Geography Laboratory and a Conference Hall with all modern facilities. The college has a examination hall with the a capacity of two hundred students. In the Department of Physical Education College has a Table-Tennis Hall, a Badminton Court, a Basketball Court, Wrestling and Judo Mats and a large well maintained ground for the students. The college also has well-furnished girls hostel which offers accommodation to 35 girls students of the college.
The College has updated library with the stock of more than 8053 books on its shelves and subscribes for all major journals, magazines and newspapers. The college has a smart class room for the better understanding of the concepts with the help of audio-visual aids.
In term of Human resources, a team of well qualified 19 teachers and 15 non-teaching members is dedicated for students der the able guidance and leadership of College Principal Prof Raj Kumar Jamwal. The college is excelling t only in academics but also in spots and co-curricular activities. Our college is the winner of H.P.U. inter-college lo championship 2018-19 with 3 gold medals (one by Munish, Jovendeep and Ajay), 2 Silver medals (one by ashdeep and Deepak) and 2 bronze medals (one by Atul and Anil). In H.PU. inter-college wresting championship 18-19 our students performed well. Jaspreet bagged Gold Medal with Avinash Singh Chouhan, Farook and Rafi n silver medal and Aditya Thakur, Mandeep and Harjot won bronze medalin this championship. Our college ticipated in H.PU. inter-college weightifting championship 2018-19. Shekhar Rehan and Lucky Sarmal won er medal and Deepak, Raman, Sharmila and Pooja won bronze medal in this championship. It was a proud ment for our college when Munish, Jovendeep & AJay represented H.P.U. in All India inter-univeristy Judo mpionship held at Amritsar.
The college has a NSS unit of 100 active volunteers and a unit of Rangers&Rovers. The college has constituted Dus clubs and societies which includes Red Ribbon Club, Eco Club, Scicroe Chub and Commerce Society. “Healthy d lives in a healthy body” keeping in view this thought the college encourages students to participate in various ts activities. In addition to regular courses from Himachal Pradesh University, the college also has IGNOU study tre which offers undergraduate, post graduate and certificate courses in various subjects.
